Three of family die in road accident

Deceased were travelling in loader rickshaw which was hit by passenger coach

BHAKKAR/ DARYA KHAN:

A woman, her daughter and sister were killed when a loader rickshaw they had been travelling in along with some other relations was hit by a passenger coach on Dera Bhakkar Road.

A rescue spokesman, while talking to The Express Tribune, identified the deceased as Bushra Bibi, Misbah Bibi and Amna Bibi.

Three of their relations who sustained serious injuries were Bashir Ahmed, Naeem Abbas and Muniran Bibi.

They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

The passenger coach involved in the accident was set on fire by unidentified people while the driver escaped.

Rescue, police and administration teams reached the spot as soon as they learnt about the accident.

Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh and District Police Officer Syed Ali Raza set up separate teams under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Bhakkar, Ahmed Saleem Chishti, and Circle Officer of Bhakkar.

The teams had been ordered to submit a report on the loss of precious lives in the horrific accident within 24 hours.

The deputy commissioner also directed the medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital to provide all possible medical facilities to the injured.

He also expressed his sorrow over the deaths and injuries in this accident.

“Those responsible will be punished according to law,” he said.

District Police Officer Syed Ali Raza said that he was sorry for the loss of precious lives and injuries in the accident.

“Protecting the lives and property of the people is the top priority of the police, but dealing with miscreants is also one of the primary responsibilities of the police,” he added.

Strict legal action was being taken against those who took law into their own hands by setting the coach on fire, he said.

Meanwhile, a second accident took place near Gama Godwala on the Jhang Road where a Qingqi rickshaw hit a motorcycle head-on.

One of the motorcyclists died on the spot while another was rushed to the DHQ Hospital in a critical condition. However, he died of his injuries at the hospital.
