ISLAMABAD:

The new industrial policy will focus on increasing production, export promotion and import substitution to step up industrialisation in Pakistan, declared Federal Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar. In a meeting with World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine on Tuesday, he discussed the priority areas of engagement to strengthen Pakistan’s partnership with the global lender. The minister appreciated the support of World Bank for Pakistan’s Covid response as well as the country’s health sector. While apprising Benhassine of the key features of the forthcoming industrial policy, he urged the World Bank to provide expert advice on the formulation of policy framework. On the occasion, Benhassine praised the accelerated implementation of World Bank-funded projects in Pakistan. He assured the minister that the World Bank would consider his recommendations.
