LAHORE:

The Pakistan Railways has jacked up its security at stations for the safety of passengers in view of a possible terrorist attack.

PR officials told The Express Tribune that Inspector General of Railway Police Faisal Shahkar has deployed commandos on entrance points, railway platforms, washing lines, drains and stations.

Under the strict security measures, railways employees will only be allowed to go to the washing line, railway yard and offices after displaying their official cards at the entrance points while only passengers would be allowed to go on the platforms.

Further, the IG railways have made walk-through gates mandatory for passengers while their luggage would be checked with metal detectors.

IG Shahkar also directed all SPs and concerned SHOs to perform their duties responsibly in their respective divisions and check the security arrangements.

Shahkar said that all necessary arrangements will be made for the security of passengers.
