RAWALPINDI:

Robbers killed a young man for putting up resistance during a robbery bid in the New Town police jurisdiction.

The victim, who was identified as Sajjad Hussain, who hailed from Skardu.

The robbers opened fire and killed Hussain after he resisted them for snatching his mobile phone on Fourth B Road.

The slain had come to Rawalpindi in search of a better job. Police handed over the victim’s body to the heirs after an autopsy and filed a robbery and murder case against the unknown accused.

The victim’s uncle Muhammad Younis told police that Sajjad Hussain was stopped by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle on Fourth B Road and tried to snatch his mobile phone between Monday and Tuesday night.

After Sajjad Hussain resisted, one of the robbers opened fire with a pistol. A bullet hit Sajjad Hussain on the shoulder and pierced through his face. He was transferred to the Holy Family Hospital where he died during treatment.

Police said a case had been filed against unknown suspects on a complaint of Muhammad Younis.
