The Islamabad sessions court has convicted two youngsters after they confessed to harassing three foreign women during hiking on trail-6 in Islamabad.
Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani sentenced 18-year-old Abrar and 16-year-old Furqan to one-year imprisonment each for three separate offences. Their jail sentence will run simultaneously.
The court has also slapped a fine of Rs5,000 on each convict. In case of non-payment of the fine, the convicts will have to serve another two months behind bars. According to the verdict, in November 2020, four foreign women went to trail-6 for hiking at 8 am near the PAF station. They parked their vehicles near Sanyari village. After a two-hour hike, one of them returned because she was not feeling well.
The other three women continued their hiking. While walking through village Sanduri, they were chased by teenage boys. They teased the women and a scuffle broke out between them. One of the women ran towards a nearby village and the remaining two continued scuffling with the women. The police later arrested the accused.
According to the verdict, the convicts were indicted on February 23, 2021. At that time, they pleaded not guilty but on November 30, they made the confession and left themselves at the mercy of the court.
