18 die in road crashes across Punjab

Among victims 631 people were seriously injured

At least 18 people died, whereas 1,123 were injured in 1,112 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during last 24 hours.

Among the victims, 631 people were seriously injured, who were shifted to different hospitals, while 492 others were treated at the incident sites for minor injuries.

As many as 65% of the accidents involved motorbikes.

Official data showed that 469 adult and 94 underage drivers, 163 pedestrians, and 509 passengers were among the victims of the traffic crashes.

The provincial capital recorded 290 accidents that affected 279 persons, followed by 90 accidents with 94 victims in Faisalabad and 70 RTCS in Gujranwala with 73 victims.

The dead and injured included 937 males and 204 females, while 207 of them were under 18 years of age, 591 aged between 18 and 40 years, and 343 above 40 years.

According to the data, 911 motorbikes, 129 auto-rickshaws, 101 cars, 40 vans, seven buses, 29 trucks and 187 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the road traffic accidents during the past 24 hours.
