Says mobile units played key role in mass vaccination drive

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid reviewed measures to make functional the Mobile Health Units in a meeting at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Wednesday.

Present in the meeting were Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Imran Sikander Baloch, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Ahmed Javed Qazi, Additional Secretary Saira Omar, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Dr Naeem Majeed and other officials.

Additional Secretary Saira Omar gave a briefing to the health minister on making functional the Mobile Health Units.

The health minister said, “The responsibility of Mobile Health Units is being entrusted to Punjab Health Facilities Management Company.

These mobile units have played a significant role in mass vaccination of people.”

She added the basic health services shall be provided to people at their doorsteps through these Units. The first aid services, medicines and vaccines shall be provided to citizens.

“We can extend health services to far-flung areas through Mobile Health Units. Secretary P&SHD shall personally monitor the performance of the Mobile Health Units,” she remarked. “We want to make these units extremely useful for people.
