The new, complete trailer of The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, has finally arrived at DC Fandome and it provides a darker, more gruesome take on the caped crusader.

Released Sunday, the trailer shows Pattinson’s version of the Dark Knight being grittier and less calculated with snippets promising an action-packed outing on March 2022. It opens with the arrest of Paul Dano’s Riddler at a diner, without revealing his face in the entirety of the two-minute clip. It goes on to see Batman methodically taking down foes despite being outnumbered with his Batsuit absorbing multiple bullets.

The footage teases at a violent version of the bat, with Pattinson narrating about the Bat-Signal: "Fear is a tool. When the light hits the sky, it's not just a call. It's a warning." Last year, the first-ever footage of the much-hyped film had fans drooling over Pattinson and intrigued by the a mysterious villain leaving notes for him at crime scenes across Gotham. The best part of the footage then and trailer now, is still the Batman growling: "I'm vengeance."

Director Matt Reeves said his version of the film is inspired by classic noirs like Chinatown and Taxi Driver, because of which we’ll witness a "very human and very flawed" Bruce Wayne in his second year as Batman, trying to solve a series of crimes, reports ABS-CBN.

Highlighted in the trailer were Zoë Kravitz, who will be portraying the role of Catwoman, and Collin Farrell who will be playing criminal mastermind Penguin. Joining Pattinson, Kravitz, and Dano in Gotham are Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon, Peter Sarsgaard as DA Gil Colson, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.

Last year, the film’s production had to shut down midway in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, before eventually halting again after Pattinson was reported to have contracted the virus.
