New Zealand confirm talks with Pakistan over rescheduling tour

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have confirmed that they have begun talks to reschedule their tour of Pakistan. 

New Zealand called off their limited-overs tour of Pakistan minutes before the opening fixture in Rawalpindi following a security alert from their government, last month. 

According to a report in the NZ Herald, "dialogue is under way" between NZC Chief Executive David White and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s Interim Chief Executive Saleem Naseer with both parties "open to the Black Caps returning before the end of the current future tours programme cycle in 2023". 

It must be noted that PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja had also stated, yesterday, that a positive update about New Zealand's rescheduled tour will be provided soon.    

"Good news will be announced within a week," said Raja while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).

New Zealand's withdrawal dealt a massive blow to Pakistan's hopes of staging regular international cricket, with England subsequently calling off their men's and women's tours.

New Zealand will face former champions Pakistan in their opening Group 2 T20 World Cup match on October 26 in Sharjah.
