Police on Saturday formed a 15-member investigation team to probe the brutal murder of a Sikh herbalist Sardar Satnam Singh in Peshawar.
A police official told The Express Tribune that a cellular investigation expert had been included in the team and it has been decided that the members of District Security Branch (DSB) will help the investigation team in intelligence gathering regarding the murder. A helper boy who worked with the slain Satnam Singh at his clinic has also been questioned about the incident. And CCTV footage have also been collected from the surrounding areas.
It has also been decided to divide the 15 members of the investigation teams into four sub-groups in which one is assigned the task to interrogate the suspects and collect data. The other one will be responsible for intelligence collection and coordination. One group will work on cellular data while the fourth group is responsible for raids and arrests in Peshawar and Charsadda districts.
SSP Investigation will lead the special investigation team while the sub-groups will be led by DSP rank officers. The FIR has already been lodged with Faqirabad police station against the unidentified attackers.
On Saturday, a delegation of minorities met Commissioner Riaz Mehsud in Peshawar and urged him to ensure foolproof security for the community members.
Police now believes that the attack is a terrorism case as the slain Santam Singh had no personal feud with any one.
