Accused Usman Moazzam, Rangers prosecutor fail to appear before the judge

KARACHI:

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) has ordered all the suspects and witnesses to appear at the next hearing in a case pertaining to providing shelter and medical treatment to terrorists.

During the hearing of the case, Dr Asim Hussain, Anis Qaimkhani, Rauf Siddiqui, Wasim Akhtar and others appeared in the court. Witness Sub-Inspector Rashid also appeared in the court, however, accused Usman Moazzam did not appear due to illness. The Rangers prosecutor also did not appear in the court.

An application for exemption from attendance was filed by Qadir Patel. The court directed all the nominated suspects and the prosecution team to produce witnesses at the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned until October 16.

Factory fire case

A local court on Saturday sent two suspects in the Mehran Town factory fire case to jail on judicial remand while granting five days to the investigating officer for submission of final challan.

The Mehran Town factory fire case was heard by the Judicial Magistrate East in the Karachi City Courts.
