‘Drug peddlers’ given death, 10-year sentences

Accused killed one, injured two others who stopped them from selling drugs.

An additional district and sessions court on Thursday awarded death sentence to an accused and life imprisonment to others in a murder and an attempt to murder cases.

According to details, the four accused named Ikram Rauf, Mushtaq Khan, Sher Muhammad and Ameer Nawaz had killed Arshad Mehmood and injured Tahir Mehmood and Shahid Mehmood as the victims had stopped the convicted from selling drugs in the area of Ratta Amral in 2019.

The court awarded a death sentence to Rauf over charges of killing Arshad while a fine of Rs500,000 was also imposed on him.

Similarly, 10 years imprisonment was given to accused Khan on the attempt of murder charges while a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on him while Muhammad was awarded 10 years imprisonment as well as a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on him.
