Two cops remanded in abduction case

KARACHI:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent on Friday two policemen accused of kidnapping for ransom to jail on judicial remand till September 2.

The investigating officer stated before the court that five accused, including two policemen, Malik Arbaaz, posted at the Central Investigation Agency, and Zeeshan Shah, posted at East Headquarters, had kidnapped a citizen from Defence area.

The accused also withdrew Rs50,000 from the ATM using victim’s card, said the IO, adding that the accused demanded an additional ransom of Rs2 million from the citizen, namely Rahab Hussain.

Tipu Sultan Police arrested the accused during a snap check near Lal Kothi on Sharae Faisal. A vehicle, arms and Rs50,000 were confiscated from the accused, according to the police.

The IO sought 10 days physical remand of the accused.

The ATC sent two of the accused on judicial remand till September 2 and demanded a report from police at next hearing.
