KARACHI: The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has failed to rope in a Serbian coach due to lack of funds but has its sights set on a Chinese one for the Asian Men’s Championship.

The federation, according to its president Mohammad Yaqoob, had finalised the deal with a Serbian coach for $4,000 per month but had to cancel as the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) did not have  funds.

“The PSB has recommended a Chinese coach to us who would cost us $2,000,” Yaqoob told The Express Tribune. “It’s disappointing since we were looking for the best option but the fund situation is hampering that effort. Many players have been picked by foreign clubs. All they need is a good coach.”

The national camp will begin next week to prepare for the al-Rashid International Tournament that takes place in Dubai before the Asian Championship.
