Over 2,900 vendors fined during Ramazan

Fines worth Rs5.05 million have been imposed on over 2,900 vendors in Sindh during Ramazan thus far for not displaying the official price list and profiteering, according to a report submitted to special assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister for the bureau of supply and prices Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan.

According to the report, the relevant authorities have checked over 13,800 shops, fruit and vegetable sellers and other vendors across the province during the holy month.

Among them, the report states, 746 profiteers have been fined Rs2.81 million in Karachi division, 723 profiteers have been fined over Rs1.22 million in Hyderabad division, 379 profiteers have been fined over Rs192,000 in Larkana division, 214 profiteers have been fined more than Rs217,000 in Mirpurkhas division, 450 profiteers have been fined over Rs322,000 in Shaheed Benazirabad division and 429 profiteers have been fined Rs287,000 in Sukkur division.
