Veteran journalist Zia Shahid passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness in Lahore. He was 78.
Shahid had been undergoing treatment for heart-related ailment at Shaikh Zayed Hospital for the last two weeks.
He was the editor-in-chief of Roznama Khabrain – an Urdu daily – and Channel Five.
The seasoned journalist remained associated with various publications during his illustrious career.
People belonging to different walks of life including journalist and politicians expressed grief over the death of the senior journalist.
“I am saddened to hear about the passing away of the Chief Editor Roznama Khabrain Zia Shahid. Extending my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the staff members of Channel 5 and daily Khabrain. May Allah Almighty increases his ranks in Jannah. Ameen,” wrote Tahirul Qadri, founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran, on his official Twitter handle.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry expressed sorrow over the sad demise and prayed for the departed soul.
