Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said action has been intensified against illegal transplants and gave a nod to the formation of a six-member committee to oversee donation of human organs.
She expressed these views while chairing the 16th meeting of monitoring body of the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) at the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Silwat Saeed, Dr Mohammad Yasir Khan, Mian Zahidur Rehman, Prof Javed Chaudhry, Dr Aliya Khalil, Dr Izhar Ahmed, Punjab Healthcare Commission Director Dr Anwar Janjua and officials of the Punjab Organ Transplantation Authority. The minister took a performance review of the PHOTA and the officials' presented agenda items of the meeting.

The health minister approved setting up an office in Faisalabad and budget for the year 2020-21.
“The advertisement for the appointment of the new DG must be immediately released. Strict action has been taken against people involved in the illegal transplants in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. Action has been intensified against illegal transplants and no one will be spared involved in any crime,” the minister concluded.
