Over 400 new infections confirmed in Sindh

13 more persons succumb to Covid-19, death toll rises to 4,212

Over 400 new Covid-19 cases and 13 contagion-related were reported in Sindh on Saturday, according a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House on the day.

Elaborating further on these developments, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in the statement that the results of 10,584 Covid-19 tests were released on the day, and 421 samples were found infected.

Of the new cases, 261 belonged to Karachi, with 92 detected in East district, 61 in Central district, 37 in West district, 32 in South district, 22 in Korangi and 17 in Malir. In addition to these, 54 were reported from Hyderabad, 17 from Qambar-Shahdadkot, 15 from Thatta, 14 from Jamshoro, nine from Mirpurkhas and as many from Ghotki, five each from Khairpur, Badin and Jacobabad, four from Naushero Feroze, three from Sujawal and as many from Tando Allahyar, two from Umerkot and one from Sukkur.

So far, the CM stated, 253,210 infections have been reported in the province, and 4,212 coronavirus-related deaths.

Besides, he said, with 559 patients recovering overnight, the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in Sindh now added up to 235,143.

According to the CM, 14,155 infected persons were under treatment in Sindh on Saturday, with 13,631 in home isolation, nine in isolation centres and 515 in hospitals.

He said the condition of 471 patients, including 63 on ventilators, was critical.
