QUETTA:

Parliamentary Secretary for Information Bushra Rind on Sunday said that the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Jam Kamal is laying a network of roads in the remote areas of Balochistan to improve transportation facilities for the people.

“A wide network of roads was being laid in remote areas of inner Balochistan. This will make it easier for residents of remote areas to reach cities.”

She added that construction of roads would enable farmers in rural areas to access markets of major cities to improve the national economy and highlighted how the restoration of infrastructure is essential to addressing the backwardness of the province. It is pertinent to note that this will not only benefit the local landowners economically but will also help in the delivery of agricultural commodities.

“The present government is pursuing an integrated strategy in this regard. Work is in full swing on infrastructure rehabilitation and other public projects in the province,” Rind said. “A network of roads is being laid across the province and traffic flow is being improved through underpasses and overhead bridges in all the districts of the province.” The parliamentary secretary relayed that the construction of a bypass in Lasbela district is one such link at a cost of 150 billion rupees.

She also said that the BAP-led government is working hard for the betterment of the communications sector in the province. “After the approval of the federal government, the work of opening all the national highways across the province would be started soon.
