ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Police have been provided six cars equipped with modern technology to check for suspicious vehicles, especially at entry and exit points of the city where pickets were removed last week.

A police spokesperson on Tuesday shared that unnecessary pickets were removed from various points of the city and vehicles will be checked through technological methods instead of establishing checkpoints and conducting checking in queues.

He said that the new cars are part of the Safe City Project and are linked with the project’s office, giving access to all 1,800 cameras installed in the capital. “Officials in the vehicles can access any camera and keep an eye on suspicious activities, people and vehicles,” he added.

The spokesperson further maintained that these vehicles will also help the police to act immediately against culprits involved in criminal activities.
