Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has likened the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to ‘Indian Chronicles’ – a report released by EU DisinfoLab earlier this month exposing propaganda campaign aimed at defaming Pakistan within the EU institutions.
“On one hand the external enemies are committing the crime of spreading false information against Pakistan through Indian Chronicles and on the other the PDM is spreading frustration among the people by resorting to lies,” he wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Both the PDM and external foes have been caught red-handed in the “trade of lies”, he added.
According to an investigation by the EU DisinfoLab, a Brussels-based NGO, a coordinated influence operation, to malign Pakistan’s reputation, has been led by the New-Delhi-based Srivastava Group and amplified by Asia News International (ANI), an Indian news agency, for the last 15 years.
The operation’s mission is to discredit nations in conflict with India in the region, in particular Pakistan and also China to a certain extent. In the long run, the campaign is aimed at bolstering India’s global perception, which will ultimately allow New Delhi to bag more support from international institutions such as the EU and the UN.
Shibli Faraz, in today’s verbal attack on political opponents, went on to say that elements that are spreading hopelessness will be frustrated and the country will continue to prosper under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“Rise in the country’s exports has broken record of last ten years,” he added.

Referring to the Friday’s face-off between PM’s aide on petroleum Nadeem Babar and former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on a local TV show, Shibli said the latter faced with the similar situation that his party colleague Ishaq Dar had gone through during BBC’s ‘Hard Talk’ show earlier this month.
He credited the Nadeem for what he said debunking the “lies” of the PML-N leader during the debate, which focused on LNG scandal and the country’s chronic energy crisis.
“The helplessness of the top player of the losing team was noticeable,” he maintained.
