The Rangers and police arrested 12 suspects, including five who were allegedly involved in kidnapping and murdering a man, in the city on Saturday.

According to the police, Khair Muhammad had been kidnapped from a plastic warehouse in the jurisdiction of the Mominabad police station on October 2, and was later murdered in Gulshan-e-Ghazi. The culprits burned his body to hide his identity.

However, the Rangers and police identified him through intelligence and forensics, later stating he was murdered over personal enmity.

The law enforcers arrested five suspects, namely Wali Jan, Khaliq Dad, Muhammad Ismail, Haji Muhammad Akram and Jumma Khan, for involvement in the murder.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police arrested seven suspects, allegedly involved in stealing from bank lockers, after an encounter at the National Highway.

The cops reportedly flagged down a car, but those inside opened fire at them. The cops retaliated and arrested seven suspects, identified as Muhammad Nasir alias Ataullah, Ayed Ali Hussain alias Kamal, Alam Khan alias Toor Khan, Abdullah, Roofanullah, Mir Haider and Muhammad Aqil. Pistols, cracker bombs, a grenade and hashish were allegedly seized from their possession.
