The Pakistan Mission at the United Nations marked the International Day of Victims of Genocide on Tuesday by highlighting India’s mass atrocities in occupied Kashmir. A call to the world community was made to take steps to stop New Delhi’s state terrorism and war crimes in the disputed territory.

International Day of Victims of Genocide, which is observed on December 9, is a global event instituted by the United Nations to commemorate the victims of genocide and to highlight humanity’s responsibility to prevent future genocides.

“We urge the international community to stop impending genocide and ethnic cleansing in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) which is aimed at converting the Muslim majority in IIOJK into a minority,” the mission said on its twitter account.

Following this, several Pakistani celebrities also took it upon themselves to once against highlight the atrocities committed against Muslims in IIOJK.

Ali Rehman Khan took to Twitter to inform his followers, "Many doctors during the Covid-19 crisis in the region have been beaten and harrassed by (Indian) government forces while performing their duties." He wrote alongside the hashtag #KashmiriPogrom, which is currently trending on Twitter.

Popular actor Fahad Mustafa followed suit, "It is time to remember the frightful number of people who died in the Kashmir Genocide. It is time to recall the respect for human rights. #KashmiriPogrom"

Bilal Ashraf also noted, "Genocide, whether committed in time of peace or war; is a crime under International law #KashmiriPogrom" Renowned singer Hadiqa Kiani reinstated the same with an addition of demanding justice. "We demand justice. #KashmirProgram!" she urged.

Producer and actor Adnan Siddiqui did not hold back either. "Enough of holding innocents to ransom," he said. "Let them breathe peacefully in a free state. Their lives matter #kashmirpogrom."

Since 1990, it said, India’s occupation army has martyred over 100,000 Kashmiris, widowed 22,000 women, orphaned 108,000 children and raped more than 11,000 women, adding that a recent statement by Genocide Watch regarding another impending genocide in IIOJK only reaffirms such fears.
