ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) on Tuesday cancelled licences of two lawyers for violating rules and regulations.

A notification issued by the council on Tuesday said that lawyers Muhammad Ali Malik and Atiqur Rehman had been removed from the list of IBC lawyers after the Islamabad Bar Council Tribunal (IBCT) received complaints about them.

A complaint against Malik had been referred by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while Captain (Retd) Muhammad Iqbal and Wahaj Sheikh had filed complaints against Rehman.

A meeting of the IBCT was convened on October 27 in which IBC Secretary Mirza Amin Tahir had issued a notification for cancelling the licences of both lawyers. Following the circular, the Appellate Tribunal of the IBC upheld the notification and the lawyers were removed from its list.
