PESHAWAR:

Youngsters from across the country were provided training and skills to survive in harsh weather conditions especially during disasters and in the wild regions of the hilly and heavily forested northern areas.

The survival camp commenced at the scenic resort of Malam Jabba in Swat Valley. It has been organised by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (K-PCTA) and features renowned survival experts who have been featured on international nature and scientific entertainment channels such as Discovery, National Geographic and Oxygen. Local survival experts are also part of the trainers. They include Chad Keel, Reza Eric Allah Bakhshi, Kody Sherwood and national athlete Samar Khan.

Around 75 youngsters from across the country, including boys and girls, are learning skills about the use of essential items and how to make a fire in difficult and tough situations, filtering water, establishing a shelter, getting out of challenging conditions and other survival scenarios in the camp. The organizers said that the training will help encourage youth to go out for adventure tourism, including trekking, camping and other activities in the scenic hilly resorts of the province.
