Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Sunday said that the federal government will jointly work with the newly elected government in GilgitBaltistan (G-B) for development in the region. Umar, in a tweet, said that after historic federal packages for Karachi and South Balochistan, now work will start on the package for G-B. At the time the minister tweeted, voting was under way for the general elections of G-B Legislative Assembly amid tight security. The polling started at 8am and continued until 5 pm without any break. PTI, PPP, PML-N, PML-Q, JUI, Jamaat-e-Islami and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen are among the parties contesting for the 23 constituencies of the G-B Legislative Assembly.
