Key road project to promote tourism

CM Kamal lays foundation stone of Negor to Sunt Sar Road Project

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the 54km Negor to Sunt Sar Road Project in a bid to promote tourism in the province.

Officials of communications and works department briefed the provincial chief executive on different aspects of the project.

CM Kamal was informed that the Negor to Sunt Sar Road Project will be completed in October next year. The estimated cost of the project is Rs797.583 million.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the road project is a gift to the people of rural and remote areas from the incumbent government.

He added that various grand projects were launched by the provincial government at Kund Malir and other coastal areas to promote tourism in the province and all available resources have been utilised to promote tourist sites.

“Unfortunately, the previous government never bothered to give importance to the tourist sites of Balochistan, though Balochistan has great potential of tourism and the incumbent government is fully committed to introducing tourism as a profit earning industry in the province,” he said. “We have allocated one billion rupees for the promotion of tourism in the province as it is our top priority.”

The chief minister added that through the promotion of tourism we can succeed in achieving targets of development and the tourism sector can surely play a drastic role in the overall economic set-up of the province. “Government is making every possible attempt to bring better changes in the infrastructure of Balochistan through a wide-ranging strategy.”

Mir Naveed Kalmat, the president of Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed gratitude and thanked CM Kamal for pursuing the project.

Earlier, the CM laid the foundation stone of a Girls College and a Futsal stadium at Ormara. According to an official press release Ormara Girls College, the project will be completed at a cost of Rs70 million while the Futsal Stadium will cost around Rs24.49 million.

He also inaugurated six different projects of link roads at Kund Malir on Sunday. The projects were completed at a cost of Rs42.5million. With the completion of the link road projects, Lyari UC of Kund Malir has been linked with the Makran Coastal Highway now.

Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Minister Mir Ziaullah Langov, Minister for Communications and Works Mir Aarif Jaan Muhammad Hasni, Minister for Public Health and Engineering Haaji Noor Muhammad Dummar, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Chairperson Quetta Development Authority Bushra Rind, coordinator to CM Balochistan Mir Abdul Rauf Rind, tribal elders, notables and officials also attended the ground breaking ceremony.
