In a highly-competitive world, students must develop analytical skills and critical thinking.
This was stated by speakers during the twelfth national convention on student quality circles on Sunday at the Modernage Public School.
Focusing on adopting statistical quality control (SQC) measures, the first event titled ‘First Virtual Convention on Student Quality Circles’ was held online. Participating students competed in three streams including 60-sec filmmaking, paper presentation, and poster or slogan designing.
Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) Abbottabad Campus’ Biotechnology Department Head Dr Amjad Hassan along with Empowerment through Quality Education, Innovation and Productivity (EQUIP) Pakistan Director General Abdul Mir, Executive Director Sumera Wahid, Regional Director Fayyaz Ahmed and others addressed the session.
Dr Hassan emphasised the need for students to develop analytical skills. He said that without critical thinking, students fail to take up leadership roles in society. He also commended the school’s administration for holding the convention online during the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Ahmed briefed the participants about EQUIP Pakistan’s role on enhancing quality education and shared the impact of previous conventions in nurturing creativity and innovation in schools.
Global Sustainable Excellence Concepts Germany President Roland Jahnke focused on EQUIP Pakistan’s growing role in the education field in line with the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. He also showed a short documentary about it and shared his experiences with the participants.
Robotmea Chairman Shams Faiz spoke about emerging technological trends and underlined the need to redefine the purpose of education accordingly.
The company’s National Executive Syed Burhan Ali stressed that Pakistan will have to shift gears towards achieving its educational needs.
The convention ended with the distribution of prizes and souvenirs among students and speakers.
