The provincial government on Wednesday launched a campaign against unregistered printing presses across the province to regulate their functioning.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Press Registrar Ataul Haq said this while inspecting printing presses in Mardan the other day.
The press registrar said that under the K-P Newspapers, Printing Press Ordinance, 2013, running a printing press without a declaration was punishable with a penalty of up to Rs0.1 million and a year-long jail term.
The official urged press owners to register their printing presses with the K-P Directorate General of Information immediately otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
The press registrar said that the K-P ID wanted to protect business of printing presses in the province.
