The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a traffic plan on the occasion of Chehlum of Karbala martyrs on Wednesday (today).
As per the plan, Traffic SSP will oversee the duties of an SP, DSP, 10 inspectors, and 260 wardens.
The main Chehlum procession would be taken out from Sector G-6/2 Imambargah and would culminate at the same point after passing through traditional routes.
The road from Kulsoom Plaza Chowk Fazal Haq Road to China Chowk would remain sealed from 8am until the culmination of the procession. The road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk and Municipal Road from Lal Masjid to Shohda Chowk GPO would also remain shut for traffic movement.
Other routes that are going to remain closed for traffic include Poly Clinic to Iqbal Hall and Seventh Avenue Chowk to Chand Tara Chowk.
The traffic officials said that the motorists should use Jinnah Avenue from Kulsoom Plaza to China Chowk and Nazimuddin Road for reaching Faisal Avenue. The motorists can also use Suharwardi road and Shaheed Millat road for movement.
The ITP radio station will also broadcast open routes during the procession timings.
Further, at least six processions would be taken out from different areas of the city in line with Chehlum of Karbala Martyrs.
The main procession would emerge from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain at 12 pm. Apart from this, five other mourning processions would be taken out from different Imam Bargahs of Rawalpindi.
The processions would culminate at Imambargah Qadeem around 11 pm.
The mourners will offer Zohr and Asr prayers at Jamia Masjid Road
