The Counter-Terrorism Department registered a case on Monday night regarding the attack on a traffic police officer, Mukhtiar Ahmed, in Malir.
The case was registered under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code dealing with attempted murder and snatching official weapons, as well as Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
According to the FIR, Ahmed stated he was deputed at Sharae Faisal Traffic section and he was returning home after work on Monday when two armed motorcyclists approached him. He narrated that one of the assailants snatched his pistol and shot him.
Investigation officers opined that the culprits only wanted Ahmed's weapon. They added that two suspects had been identified with the help of CCTV footage and eyewitness statements.
