ISLAMABAD:

Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul on Wednesday said that hundreds of nurseries have been established across the country under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programme, many of which were owned and run independently by women and community women groups.

In a statement on Wednesday, Gul said that the incumbent government assigns immense importance to women’s participation in tree plantation programmes and the sustainable management of forest resources.

“Their involvement in such activities is now not only helping them build up their socio-economic lives but also motivating them to play their part in the promotion of forestry among women community members”.

Participation of women in conservation of the country’s forest was also part of the premier’s flagship 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programme.
