The appointment of Munir Ahmed Soomro as the acting director-general of the Sehwan Development Authority (SDA), the development arm of Jamshoro district, has been challenged in the Sindh High Court again.
The Hyderabad circuit bench, which had earlier ordered his removal in 2009, on Thursday put the respondents on notice for October 27.
The petitioners' counsel contended that Soomro had been at the post since October 2019, which was given to him illegally. He recalled that the same court had ordered a corruption inquiry against Soomro and removed him from the post in 2009.
In 2010, the Supreme Court had dismissed his appeal and directed the Sindh government to appoint a BPS-20 official instead of a junior officer such as Soomro.
He was once again given the post in 2014, before being relieved again. "Unfortunately, he has again been unlawfully appointed as the DG...instead of facing consequences," argued the lawyer, seeking his removal.
