ISLAMABAD:

The man charged with raping a woman in the Karachi Company area of the federal capital has claimed that the victim is a sex-worker who was paid for her services.

The victim had told the police that a woman had offered to get her employment at an NGO, but she handed her over to a man who raped her twice on the threat that his armed guard would shoot her.

The suspect, during the interrogation, claimed that he booked the victim from the brothel of HK* against Rs12,000 and refuted the allegations of rape as everything, according to him, happened consensually.

The suspect NB*, who is the Rawalpindi division president of a political party, asserted during the investigation that he booked the alleged victim from HK’s brothel. Then, they both went to an apartment in Sector F-11 where everything happened consensually. Later, he dropped her at the same brothel in the Karachi Company area.

The suspect stated that HK demanded Rs70 million from him for withdrawing the first information report (FIR) to before the matter goes public. Later, the offer was reduced to Rs30 million but the he refused for any kind of blackmail in the name of settlement.

Police sources told The Express Tribune that several such cases have been registered against women who first take money from the ‘customers’ and then file a case to pressurise them. These women are members of a gang that operates in Islamabad and Rawalpindi while some policemen are also part of it.

It was also learnt against HK that she coax people to get them married to rich widows or foreign national women, takes cash for matchmaking services and disappears.

In the related case, S* had lodged a complaint at the Karachi Company police station where she had claimed to have been raped by NB. Taking action on it, the police had arrested the suspect.

After these confessions, the police conducted a medical examination of S and the report resulted back positive after which the police included sections against the complainant too.

In this regard, an official of the political party said that all the drama was an attempt to malign the reputation of his political platform. He added that the complainant was a sex-worker and the police were fully aware of it. The official contended that if it had been a rape, there would have been wounds or bruises on the suspect’s face or body. But, he maintained, everything happened consensually which the reports testified.

However, the complainant has maintained in her statement that the suspect raped her twice in presence of an accomplice who was armed. She also said that she could identify the accomplice if brought before her. The victim has also pleaded to initiate legal action against HK.
