Opera singer Saira Peter has organised an online musical concert to express solidarity with women in Pakistan and beyond. She presented famous Urdu and English operas and received a boisterous response from the online audience. She started the concert from Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s famous poem “hum bhi dekhain ge”. Musician Stephen Smith supported her during the performance. Peter said her show aims to express solidarity with women suffering across the world, especially in Pakistan. Referring to the recent tragic incidents in the country, she said that all women everywhere can feel the pain. “I know that it is hard to go through such incidents,” she said, adding there are solutions and God has given us free choices in this regard. In our hands is a power to forgive, and forgiveness is the key to a happy life. Peter said it was very important to live a happy life, adding that free will is a big gift of God in such situations, though it is a very difficult task.
