DG KHAN:

A ‘faith healer' was arrested on Thursday for allegedly torturing a 12-year-old boy under the pretext of exorcism in the Drahma area of Dera Ghazi Khan.

The incident took place in the Darbar Peer Fateh Shah locality.

Muhammad Akash, a resident of Siddique Abad Colony, succumbed to injuries sustained by the beating meted out to him by Ijaz Hussain, the alleged culprit.

The victim's family claimed that Akash was “brutally tortured to death” and called for “justice to be served”.

The body of the deceased has been sent for medico-legal requirements and a case registered against the suspect.

District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq took notice of the incident and met the victim's family.

“Those who torture the innocent in the name of treating a possessed soul will not be given no reprieve by the law enforcement,” the police official said.
