ATC sets date for Uzair Baloch’s indictment

Gangster says he was not being provided facilities at the sub-jail run by Rangers

KARACHI:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) heard seven cases against Lyari gang leader Uzair Baloch on Monday, and set the date for indictment in two of the seven cases.

During the hearing, Baloch told the court that he was not being provided with facilities in line with the jail manual at Mitha Ram Hostel, a sub-jail run by the Rangers. He requested permission to be allowed access to sunlight. Upon hearing Baloch’s statement that he was being kept in a closed room and was not allowed any sunlight, the court remarked that directives will be given allowing Baloch access to sunlight. The court provided Baloch with copies of the case pertaining to police assault and attack at Kalakot Police Station, and two cases pertaining to terrorism, and set the date for indictment. The accused was permitted to meet with his wife, mother, daughter and cousin at the court.
