PESHAWAR:

The Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) administration has sought assistance from the district authorities for the resumption of their outpatient departments.

In a letter to the Peshawar Commissioner, the administration of the hospital disclosed its desire to reopen the outpatient departments (OPDs) after Ashura. The triage systems and casualty wards are expected to resume.

The management said that one of the gates to the hospital will be restricted for entry to the OPD to avoid crowding and the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) - which had forced the hospital to shut the OPDs down around five months ago.

An official at the LRH, who requested not to be named because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said that the hospital plans to adopt a one visitor policy apart from ensuring the use of facemasks for patients and staff in the OPDs.

Further, the official said that any patient displaying symptoms of Covid-19 will be admitted in the chest ward as the dedicated ward for pandemic patients will be closed.Health dept digitisation project hits snags

Despite the tall claims of the provincial government to digitise the health department, little to no progress has been made in the project thus far.

A source at the K-P Health Department has told The Express Tribune that the former health minister had initiated a computerisation process. Under the project, all staff and related affairs of the health department were supposed to have been computerised.
