The Sindh High Court on Tuesday directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other institutions concerned to submit the inquiry report on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash that occurred in December 2016.
A division bench of the SHC comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Yousuf Ali Saeed heard an application filed for transparent investigation of the incident.
The court expressed displeasure over the non-completion of inquiry by the CAA.
“This accident happened in 2016. You could not complete the inquiry,” the court said.
“You want the case to continue and your planes [to fly] too?” the court questioned.
On being asked, the PIA counsel told the court that the Air Safety Investigation Board looked after the matters related to accidents.
The SHC ordered the CAA and other institutions concerned to submit the final inquiry report and adjourned the hearing of the case until September 8.
The PIA flight PK-661 had crashed on the way to Islamabad from Chitral on December 7, 2016 with all 47 on board dead.
