ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) on Friday affixed a temporary banner with photographs of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on a hill overlooking the Expressway to replace another large portrait of Jinnah which had fallen over due to torrential rains. Due to monsoon rains, a large portrait of Jinnah on the landscaped hill had fallen over on Thursday - a day before Independence Day on August 14. On the instructions of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, the IMC staff on Friday installed two, temporary, panaflex banners bearing portraits of the father of the nation. IMC Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Naqvi, who was overseeing the operation, said that the temporary images have been installed given the importance of August 14, while the original image will be reinstated after repairs are completed.
