Residents of the provincial capital have voiced their frustration and anger at the frequent, prolonged and unannounced power cuts in the city for several weeks.
The provincial government had claimed that uninterrupted power supply will be ensured during Eid, however, its claims proved false as citizens complained they got no respite in power outages even during the Eid holidays.
Residents of several areas of the provincial capital, including Kohat Road, Sikandarpura, Nishtarabad, Dalazak Road, Faqeerabad, Kohat Road, City Circular Road, and Gulbahar have been suffering frequent power breakdowns. Owing to the frequent power outages, water supply from tube-wells in the affected areas was also impaired.
Meanwhile, residents of the walled city area of the provincial capital complained about the loose and naked wires dangling over the narrow, crowded streets and roads of the old area of the city.
They said several complainants were lodged with the relevant department of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), however, it did not yield any action from the power utility.
The markets where live wires could be seen dangling include Shaheen Bazaar, Meena Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Shuba Bazaar and other walled city areas.
