URUMQI:
Six people, either diagnosed as confirmed Covid-19 patients or asymptomatic cases in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, were discharged after recovery on Tuesday afternoon.
They are the first batch of infected people to be discharged from hospital after new clusters of Covid-19 infections were reported in the region earlier this month, according to Shang Yulan, Deputy Secretary General of the Urumqi Municipal People's Government.
Xinjiang reported 57 new confirmed Covid-19 cases on Monday, according to the regional health commission. By Monday, Xinjiang had 235 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 165 asymptomatic cases, and 8,809 people were still under medical observation.
