KARACHI:

City wardens will be deployed on intersections and other high-traffic points of major roads in the city in order to assist the traffic police, directed Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Sunday.

The mayor stated that the city wardens would perform their duties throughout the week, including on Saturdays and Sundays, during the monsoon season. "City wardens should be ready to perform their duties at all times, like the compulsory services departments," he added.

Akhtar commended the wardens for providing clear passage to vehicles during and after the recent rainfall in various areas of the city. He further directed them to ensure their safety by wearing masks as a preventative measure against coronavirus.

Akhtar also instructed City Warden director Raja Rustam to appoint wardens at all underpasses in Karachi.

City wardens were also performing their duties to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in different areas of Karachi on Sunday, including Nazimabad, Sharae Pakistan, Zainab Market, Saddar, Teen Talwar, Landhi, Korangi and Malir.
