Pakistan opener Abid Ali was hit on the helmet while fielding at short leg during the third day of the four-day intra-squad match at The Incora County Ground, Derby on Sunday.

An ambulance was called as the opener needed treatment for the injury. Fortunately, the 32-year-old escaped any major injury and was able to sit up on a stretcher while being escorted out of the field.

According to sources, the local medical team is looking after Abid and the latter is not feeling any pain. However, he may need to go to hospital for further checks later.

Abid scored 10 runs in the first innings on Saturday for Team Green, while playing against Team White. He was caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan on the bowling of right-arm pacer Sohail Khan.
