Trump’s hate campaign

The United States is known for its perennial racism, but the threat it faces now is from the man who occupies the highest and most powerful office. Since his election in 2016, Donald J Trump has fanned the flames of division and hate — and successfully divided the nation. Contrary to what most Americans would expect from their leader, Trump has emerged as the single most dangerous threat to America’s unity and its values. He openly supports the country’s Confederate history at a time when African Americans are butchered for the colour of their skin.

In a speech marking the independence day this month, President Trump warned thousands of supporters at Mount Rushmore that the left-wing protesters were trying to erase the country’s history. A history that is known for racial inequality, and so much more that is not acceptable in this age. But nothing stops Trump. Blinded by the greed for power, the 45^th American president wants to please his base by making such statements. After all, it is election season, and nothing matters more than his re-election to the highest office.

America has seen its share of crooks and criminals in politics. Trump beats all previous records. He can easily qualify as the most racist American president in recent times. Perhaps, he will shamelessly claim the title if required. At a time when the country is dealing with a pandemic that shows no signs of slowing, Trump is only concerned about his re-election, and that only happens if he continues to please his base — a base that consists of haters and those who do not believe in equality.

For his survival, Trump has decided to fan the flames of hate in the country. And he continues to invest all his energy into the process of dividing the nation further because the more divided America is, the more electable Trump might be.
