Prince Khaled Bin al Waleed invests in Cellag Startup TurtleTree Labs

Prince Khaled Bin Alwaleed has invested in a $3.2m seed round for Cellag Startup TurtleTree Labs. TurtleTree Labs is the first cell based biotechnology company creating real milk from mammalian cells without the need for animals TurtleTree Labs was founded in 2019 by CEO Fengru Lin and Chief Strategist Max Rye with the aim of producing lab-based milk with full nutritious contents without the requirement of animals. Although TurtleTree Labs is a global company based in Singapore, the cell biology and molecular biology teams in Pakistan have been critical to the acceleration of the company’s progress. The molecular biology team is led by Dr Saher Shahid who is also one of the inventors of this technology and Sana Batool, both graduates of School of Biological Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan under the supervision of Prof Dr Waheed Akhtar (Professor Emeritus, University of the Punjab, Lahore, for the production of various peptide hormones used in cell growth and lactation media.
