Pandemic not to affect development pace: Punjab CM
CM Usman Buzdar says on-going development projects will be completed on priority basis
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the pace of the development process would not be affected due to the coronavirus pandemic and the development budget has been increased by Rs5 billion despite difficult economic conditions.
While talking to the lawmakers from Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum and other cities at his office, the CM assured that the development projects would be started in every district of the province and there would be no discrimination in the distribution of development funds for districts.
“The on-going development projects will be completed on priority basis and the proposals of assembly members will be given importance in this regard,” he said.
The CM highlighted that DHQ and THQ hospitals would be upgraded, adding that new mother-and-child hospitals would be constructed with an amount of Rs11.5 billion. Similarly, Rs1 billion was provided for the provision of health facilities in 196 BHUs.
He stated that different projects including water treatment plants and supply and drainage of wastewater would be completed in 16 districts with an amount of 32 billion rupees.
