The five-and-a-half-year-old victim was allegedly raped in the basement of a house located on Church Road on May 28 within the remits of the Saddar police station.
The victim’s maternal grandfather, MB*, alleged that suspect HI*, took his granddaughter to the basement of his house where he sexually assaulted her.
He added that they immediately rushed the minor to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) where, after seeing the victim, doctors initially maintained that the minor had been sexually abused and performed a medical examination. The grandfather added that the police also registered a case under sections of rape.
However, they were left shocked when the medical reports refuted previous assertions of rape.
The victim’s family expressed dissatisfaction over the report and demanded to conduct another medical examination of the victim.
Meanwhile, the police denied any involvement, noting that the entire process was carried out by a team of doctors and that they had no influence on them. They further claimed that they arrested the suspect as soon as the incident was reported and that he is currently being detained at the Adyala Jail on judicial remand.
Police further said that if the victim’s family wants another medical exam, they can submit a written application to the BBH management.
