According to the spokesperson weapons and other sensitive materials were also recovered from the militant’s hideout. A case had been registered against the suspect, identified as Sikandar, over terrorism and other charges.
Police said that during investigation the militant divulged that he joined the IS in 2019 and carried out extortion activities in Karachi in the past year. He also confessed to shooting and bombing at a clinic in the PIB Colony because the doctor did not pay the extortion money, the spokesperson said.

The suspect was also taken into custody in 2013 in several terrorism-related incidents and was released later after serving time in Mardan prison, said the officials, adding raids were being carried out to arrest his accomplices.
Earlier in March, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed four IS terrorists in an intelligence based operation in Bahawalpur.
As per the CTD, the terrorists were identified as Amanullah, Abdul Jabbar, Rehman Ali and Aleem.
They were planning to target a worship place of a minority community, according to the security officials.
