Bangladesh needs to learn from Pakistan in fast-bowling department: Tamim Iqbal

Left-hand opener Tamim Iqbal believes Bangladesh cricket needs to learn from Pakistan, in their quest to find a quality fast-bowler.

While speaking in a YouTube video with former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja, Tamim said that over-reliance on spinners in domestic cricket is the main reason behind Bangladesh struggling to produce quality pacers.

"Pakistan is one team that we can learn from. In domestic matches, we play on similar kind of wickets, but still Pakistan has always produced top class fast-bowlers," said Tamim. "If we can follow the path, which Pakistan has been doing, I think that will help Bangladesh cricket especially in fast-bowling."

The 31-year-old opener also heaped praise on Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal and said that the former off-spinner troubled him the most in international cricket.

"Saeed Ajmal in his prime was an unbelievable bowler, who you could not pick. I could not pick him," he said.

Earlier this month, Tamim, during a Facebook Live session, revealed that Pakistan’s legendary fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar was the only bowler, who scared him in his playing career.

“I always say this. I have played a lot of fast bowlers. I have also faced a lot of balls around 150 kmph/hour. But I got scared only once. When I first played Shoaib Akhtar. That day I thought he would kill me. His bowling was so terrifying,” he said.
